departments does the Cook County Board President have under his jurisdiction?
Presently there are five bureaus and 32 departments that report directly
to the Cook County Board President. They are as follows:

How
may I apply for the Cook County Home Buyers Program?
The Cook County Home Buyer's Program allows qualified buyers to receive
cash from a second mortgage loan to meet down payment and closing cost
expenses associated with the purchase of a home. You qualify if your income
is 80% or less of the median income or the area, adjusted for family size.
For example, a household of four earning up to $43,500 is eligible.
The Home Buyer's Program awards a second mortgage for down payment and
closing cost expenses. This loan is offered by Fannie Mae lenders using
the Fannie Neighbors 95 percent loan. The qualified home buyer can borrow
2% of the required 5% down payment on the purchase price. In addition,
loan funds may be used for up to 50% of the estimated closing costs.
The program is available in various Cook County communities and all unincorporated

do I apply for employment with Cook County?

Where
do I obtain a copy of my marriage license or birth certificate?
Copies of marriage and birth documents may be purchased from the County
Clerk's Vital Records Office located at 118 N. Clark Street in the lower
level on the Randolph side of the building or online on the Clerk's website.

What
office should I contact to get information regarding job training?
The President's Office of Employment Training(POET) offers important job
training programs to enhance existing job skills, to assist in the search
for employment or to apply for financial assistance to enhance your ability
to gain employment. Poet has several service locations(see below).

department should I contact regarding building complaints in unincorporated
Cook County?
All building inquiries regarding erection, construction, alteration, demolition

If
I'm opening a business or expanding my business in Cook County, where
can I get assistance?
The Cook
County Department of Planning and Development's Prairies Economic
Development Assistance to Business in Cook County. The department's Economic
Development Division can provide information on tax incentives, local,
state and federal business assistance programs, and market information.

Where
can I pay Cook County property taxes?
Payments may now be made online year-round on the Treasurer's Web site
at www.cookcountytreasurer.com.
For your
convenience, you may also present payment with an original copy of the
entire Cook County real-estate tax bill, for either the current year at
any of the nearly 300 Chase locations throughout Chicagoland, including
those located outside of Cook County. Payments are also accepted at the
Cook County Treasurer's Office, 118 N. Clark Street, 1st floor, (312)
443-5100.

Where
can I appeal my Cook County property tax assessment?
Cook
County Assessor
Your first opportunity to appeal your property tax assessment would be
when you recieve your new proposed assessed valuation for the property.
This value is reassessed every three years by the Cook County Assessor's
office, who then sends the property owner a reassessment notice. On that
notice is a date by which you can file for an appeal with the Assessor's
Office through their Taxpayer Assistance Office.
If you are
not satisfied with the results of your appeal, you can contact the Assessor's
Taxpayer Advocate Department, which will conduct individualized re-reviews
when evidence indicates the possibility of error.

If you still do not reach resolution on your assessment, or if you missed
the Assessor's appeal date, you can then contact the Cook County Board
of Review. The Board has the authority to review the assessment and, upon
finding that an assessment is not correct, order the Assessor to increase
or decrease any assessment accordingly.

If you are not satisfied with the results of the Board of Review, you
can contest the valuation of the property to the State of Illinois Property
Tax Appeal Board (PTAB).
