Jackson, et al., Case No. 03-C-4716.  This matter involves an alleged civil rights violation.  The matter has been settled pursuant to a structured settlement agreement for the sum of $4,500,000.00, which is within the authority granted to this office by the Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on Litigation at its meeting of April 3, 2007.  This is the first of two (2) disbursements to be made pursuant to the structured settled agreement.  The second set of three (3) checks will be requested and paid on or before February 1, 2008.  State's Attorney recommends that the payment of the first disbursement be issued in two (2) separate checks as follows:

Chambers, as the Independent Executor of the Estate of Michael P. Chambers and Clifford Law Offices, P.C.  Please forward the check to Patrick T. WHEREAS, the Cook County area has been designated as an area of non-attainment of suitable air quality and ozone standards by the United States Environmental Protection Agency partially due to the air pollution emissions of standard combustion engine vehicles within its boundaries; and transportation, specifically the combustion of fossil fuels in our vehicles, is the single largest source of human-made greenhouse gases; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Office of the Cook County Assessor.
