AMENDMENT TO THE COOK COUNTY WHEEL TAX ON MOTOR VEHICLES ORDINANCE (PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT). Submitting a Proposed Ordinance Amendment sponsored by Joseph Mario Moreno and Roberto Maldonado, County Commissioners. PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT WHEEL TAX ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Cook County Board of Commissioners, that Chapter 74 Taxation, Sections 74-550 through 74-569 of the Cook County Code are hereby amended as follows: Sec. 74-550. Short title. Sec. 74-551. Definitions. Sec. 74-552. License requirement. Sec. 74-553. Application. Sec. 74-554. Exemptions. Sec. 74-555. Issuance. Sec. 74-556. Fees. Sec. 74-557. Persons over age 65. Sec. 74-558. Effective dates. Sec. 74-559. Annual license. Sec. 74-560. Motor bicycle plate. Sec. 74-561. Window sticker. Sec. 74-562. Removal upon sale. Sec. 74-563. Unlawful use on another vehicle. Sec. 74-564. Transfer. Sec, 74-565. Dealer license. Sec. 74-566. Business vehicle identification. Sec. 74-567. Right to inspect. Sec. 74-568. Penalty for ordinance violation. Sec. 74-569. Penalty for unlawful removal. Sec. 74-570. Deposit of Funds. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, by the Cook County Board of Commissioners, that Chapter 32 Fees, Section 32-1 of the Cook County Code is hereby amended as follows: Sec. 32-1. Fee schedule. 74-556 Fee schedule (wheel tax): Class Annual License Fee (in dollars) MOTOR TRUCKS, TRACTOR-SEMI TRAILER UNITS AND MOTOR BUSES (Gross weight in pounds of vehicle plus its maximum load) A Up to 10,000 lbs. 50.00 180.00 B 10,001 to 20,000 lbs. 75.00 180.00 C 20,001 to 36,000 lbs. Commissioner Moreno moved that the Proposed Ordinance Amendment (Communication Number 292095) be approved and adopted. The motion died for lack of a second.

Chairman Daley announced to those who had registered to testify at today’s public hearing, that due to the fact there was no second on the motion, there was no further consideration by the Committee.

Commissioner Murphy, seconded by Commissioner Moreno, moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
