Your Committee on Roads and Bridges, having had under consideration the matters hereinafter mentioned, respectfully reports and recommends as follows:

 

Section 1

 

Your Committee has considered the following communications from Rupert Graham, Jr. P.E., Acting Superintendent of County Department of Highways, recommending for approval the change in plans and extra work involved in the construction of certain highway improvements as described:

Graham, Jr., P.E., Acting Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  02-A8626-02-FP.  Howard Street, New Gross Point Road/Tierney Drive to the Edens Expressway West Frontage Road in the Villages of Niles and Skokie in County Board District #13.  Adjustment of quantities and new items.  $208,025.57 (Addition).

COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Acting Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  04-W4310-03-RP.  Crawford Avenue (Pulaski Road), 159th Street to 147th Street in the City of Markham and the Village of Midlothian in County Board Districts #5 and 6.  Adjustment of quantities and new item.  $60,013.26 (Deduction).

Graham, Jr., P.E., Acting Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  03-B8336-03-FP.  Michigan City Road, 154th Street to Indiana State Line in the City of Calumet City in County Board District #4.  Adjustment of quantities and new items.  $87,204.98 (Deduction).

COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Acting Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  01-B7528-05-PV.  123rd Street, Cicero Avenue to Kedzie Avenue in the Village of Alsip in County Board District #6.  Adjustment of quantities and new items.  $37,704.67 (Addition).

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved the approval of the change in plans and extra work described in Communication Nos. 286482, 286483, 286484 and 286485. The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

Section 2

 

Your Committee has considered the bids submitted on the item hereinafter described in accordance with the specifications prepared by the Acting Superintendent of the County Department of Highways.

 

Your Committee has considered the communications from the Acting Superintendent of the County Department of Highways, submitting recommendations on the award of contracts for said items, and recommends that the contracts be and upon the adoption of this Report, awarded as follows:

 

1)         82nd Avenue

            151st Street to 135th Street

            Section 05-W3211-02-RS

            Village of Orland Park and

            Unincorporated Cook County

            Motor Fuel Tax Fund (600-600)

            County Board District #17

           

Contract awarded to:  K-Five Construction Corporation $1,638,994.50

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved to concur with the recommendation in awarding the contract.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

The deposit checks are ordered returned to the unsuccessful bidder at once and to the successful bidders upon the signing of the contract.

 

 

Commissioner Murphy, seconded by Commissioner Peraica moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
