Ladies and Gentlemen:

 

Your Committee on Roads and Bridges, having had under consideration the matters hereinafter mentioned, respectfully reports and recommends as follows:

 

Section 1

 

Your Committee has considered the following communications from Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, recommending for approval change in plans and extra work in the construction of certain highway improvements.

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  04-B8431-08-PV.  Federal Project No. CMM-HPD-M8003-(427).  State Job No. C-91-278-04.  Contract No. 10212.  171st Street, Wood Street to Ashland Avenue in the City of Harvey and the Villages of East Hazel Crest and Hazel Crest in County Board Districts #5 and 6.  Adjustment of quantities and new items.  $96,202.39 (Deduction).

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  01-W3016-02-FP.  88th/86th Avenue, 111th Street to 103rd Street in the Village of Palos Hills, unincorporated Cook County and the Forest Preserve District of Cook County in County Board District #17.  Adjustment of quantities and a new item.  $45,577.00 $47,577.00 (Deduction).

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Sims moved the Approval of the change in plans and extra work described in Communications Nos. 294133 and 294134.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Section 2

 

Your Committee has considered the following Communication from Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways.

COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, submitting the Bureau of Construction's Progress Report for the month ending April 30, 2008.

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Sims, moved to Receive and File Communication No. 294135. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Section 3

 

Your Committee has considered the bids submitted on the items hereinafter described in accordance with the specifications prepared by the County Superintendent of Highways.

 

Your Committee has considered the communications from the Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendations on the award of contracts for said items, and recommends that the contracts be and upon the adoption of this Report, awarded as follows:

 

1)         Flossmoor Road

            Ridgeland Avenue to Cicero Avenue

            Section 07-B6526-01-FP

            City of Country Club Hills and

            Unincorporated Cook County in

            County Board Districts #5 & 6

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Gallagher Asphalt Corporation  $1,457,697.85

 

2)         Arlington Heights Road

            Rand Road to University Drive

            Section 08-V6945-01-RS

            Village of Arlington Heights in

            County Board District #14

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Arrow Road Construction Company  $1,634,764.35

 

The deposit checks are ordered returned to the unsuccessful bidders at once and to the successful bidder upon the signing of the contract.

 

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Sims, moved to concur with the recommendation in awarding the contracts.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

 

 

Commissioner Steele, seconded by Commissioner Murphy moved to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
