Commissioners Maldonado, Steele and Suffredin (3)

 

Ladies and Gentlemen:

 

Your Committee on Roads and Bridges, having had under consideration the matters hereinafter mentioned, respectfully reports and recommends as follows:

 

Section 1

 

Your Committee has considered the bids submitted on the items hereinafter described in accordance with the specifications prepared by the County Superintendent of Highways.

 

Your Committee has considered the communications from the Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendations on the award of contracts for said items, and recommends that the contracts be and upon the adoption of this Report, awarded as follows:

 

1)   Oak Forest Avenue - REBID

            Ridgeland Avenue to 0.45 Miles

SW of 167th Street

            Section 08-B8526-03-RS

            Village of Tinley Park in County Board Districts #6 and 17

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Gallagher Asphalt Corporation  $735,853.25

 

2)         170th (167th) Street - REBID

            East of Bishop Ford Expressway

            to Burnham Avenue

            Section 08-B5935-05-RP

            Villages of Calumet City, Lansing

            and South Holland in County

            Board District #6

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Capital Cement Company, Inc.  $8,180,726.50

 

3)         Palatine Township

            2008 Motor Fuel Tax Project

            at Various Locations

            Section 08-25149-90-RS

            County Board District #14

            TF Account #610-610

 

            Contract awarded to:  Arrow road Construction Company  $541,062.00

 

The deposit checks are ordered returned to the unsuccessful bidders at once and to the successful bidders upon the signing of the contracts.

 

Commissioner Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved to concur with the recommendation in awarding the contracts.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

 

Section 2

 

Your Committee has considered the following items and upon adoption of this report, the recommendations are as follows:

 

1)         Hanover Township

            2007 TBF Project at Rohrssen Road

            Section 07-09112-90-BR

            County Board District #15

            TF Account #610-610

 

One bid was received and not opened by the County Purchasing Agent on August 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. (Local Time).  It is therefore respectfully recommended that the contract be rebid.

 

 

2)         Furnishing and Delivering

            50,000 Tons rock Salt (Sodium Chloride)

            Section No. 08-8SALT-29-GM

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600     

                                                                         

One bid was received and not opened by the County Purchasing Agent on August 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. (Local Time).  It is therefore respectfully recommended that the contract be rebid.

 

Commissioner Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved to concur with the recommendation to rebid and readvertised the above contracts.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

Commissioner Beavers, seconded by Commissioner Claypool, moved to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
