Your Committee on Roads and Bridges, having had under consideration the matters hereinafter mentioned, respectfully reports and recommends as follows:

Your Committee has considered the following communication from Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, recommending for approval change in plans and extra work in the construction of certain highway improvements.

Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendation for change in plans and extra work on Section:  88-B7430-02-RP.  119th Street, Crawford Avenue to Western Avenue in the Cities of Blue Island and Chicago, and the Villages of Alsip and Merionette Park in County Board Districts #5, 6 and 11.  Adjustment of quantities.  $26,704.65 (Addition).

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved the Approval of the change in plans and extra work described in Communication Nos. 299103, 299104, 299105, 299106, 299107, 299108, 299109 and 299110.  The motion carried unanimously.

Your Committee has considered the following item and upon adoption of this report, the recommendation is as follows:

COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, by Rupert F. Graham, Jr., P.E., Superintendent of Highways, submitting the Bureau of Construction's Progress Report for the month ending January 31, 2009.

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy moved to Receive and File Communication No. 299111.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

Section 3

 

Your Committee has considered the bids submitted on the item hereinafter described in accordance with the specifications prepared by the County Superintendent of Highways.

 

Your Committee has considered the communication from the Superintendent of Highways, submitting recommendations on the award of contract for said items, and recommends that the contract be and upon the adoption of this Report, awarded as follows:

 

1.         Hanover Township

            2009 Motor Fuel Tax Project

            Section 09-09112-90-RS

            Unincorporated Cook County

            County Board District #15

            Township Funds #610-610

 

            Contract awarded to:  Chicagoland Paving Contractors, Inc.  $318,784.00

 

2.         Steger Road over Plum Creek

            (East of Burnham Avenue)

            Unincorporated Cook County

            County Board District #6

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Albin Carlson & Company, Inc.  $219,533.00

 

3.         167th Street

            City of Oak Forest and

            Unincorporated Cook County

            County Board District #6

            Motor Fuel Tax Account #600-600

 

            Contract awarded to:  Greco Contractors, Inc.  $3,295,283.33

 

The deposit checks are ordered returned to the unsuccessful bidders at once and to the successful bidder upon the signing of the contract.

 

Vice Chairman Gorman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, moved Approval of the above awarded contracts.  The motion carried unanimously.
