to Adequately Fund Medical Examiner

Todd H. Stroger joined Cook County Medical Examiner
Dr. Nancy Jones, local law enforcement, religious leaders
and medical examiner investigators and staff to stress
the need for the 2008 budget be passed without any proposed
cuts that would severely affect the facility.Already
understaffed, the operation of the Medical Examiner's
office would be further strained if proposed cuts of
up to 13% by some county commissioners are taken into
effect. Several speakers were present to express how
important the services that the Medical Examiner's office
provides to the residents of Cook County. With a proposed
decrease in services due to budget cuts, the group stressed
how drastically police investigations, funeral preparations
and organ donor practices would be adversely affected.
